At a time when representation dominated painting, artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Kazimir Malevich, and Hilma af Klint began to strip away the literal, reaching instead for emotion, form, and spiritual resonance. Abstractionism was a rebellion against tradition, a search for new visual languages that could speak beyond the material world.
Abstract Distillery & Bistro
Inspired by the abstract art movement, Abstract Distillery showcases a new approach to distillation focused solely on the complexity and extraction of single-ingredients (monochromes). The abstraction movement employed traditional tools to gain recognition as a respected form of artistic expression (e.g., beautiful framing, exhibition spaces).
Similarly, Abstract Bistro functions as the connection between the distillery and public, showcasing the ‘art’ in a familiar, recognizable form.

This Abstract Bistro extends the work in Lyon to Paris, bringing the distillates and cocktails from a quiet, daytime environment to a busy, dynamic Parisian neighbourhood.
This iteration offers a stand-alone bar that offers patrons the opportunity to explore the intricacies of distillation and abstraction.
